RUDOSA Word Problem Checklist
 
This product is a checklist bookmark that is designed to be cut out, laminated and given to each student.
Students can use it as a scaffold to assist them when learning how to solve mathematical word problems. The image of the turtle is to remind them to slow down when working mathematically.
RUDOSA stands for;
R - read the word problem carefully and highlight all the important information
U – understand and clarify what the question is asking
D – draw any diagrams that may help you solve the problem
O – choose the operation you need to apply to solve the problem
S – solve the problem and make sure you record your problem-solving method
A – write the answer in a sentence to correctly answer the question
Students can mark off the completion of each step by ticking the box with a whiteboard marker.
 
There are 6 bookmarks. The content is the same on each bookmark, however the turtle is a different colour. The 6 different turtle colours are;
  1. red
  2. blue
  3. green
  4. yellow
  5. orange
  6. purple
