Do you need a maths game to use as an introduction to a fraction lesson? Or do you simply need a maths game you can take on any casual day to engage a class? Here is a great maths game that all stage 2 and 3 students will love. It also assists students in understanding fractions and equivalent fractions.

Simply print and laminate the cards to play.

Instructions to play include;

  • Cut and laminate cards.
  • This card game is to be played in pairs.
  • Divide the cards evenly between two people.
  • Students are not allowed to look at the cards.
  • The students turn their first card over at the same time.
  • The person with the largest fraction in the winner of that round and takes the other student’s card.
  • If the fractions are of equal value both students leave their card in a pile in the middle.
  • The next two cards are drawn and whoever has the largest fraction gets to keep the whole pile.
  • Repeat the process for a set amount of time. The student with the most cards at the end wins the fraction battle.
